'Enough!' Ruth Davidson reveals Tory plan to oust Sturgeon's SNP from Parliament

The Scottish Tory leader hit out at her rival in a fiery speech in Scotland today, pledging to bring down the SNP on June 8 at the snap election.

She accused the SNP of failing the country, and pledged to stop Ms Sturgeon from “pulling the country apart”.

accused Labour of propping up the SNP  to divide Scotland rather than working with the Tories.

Ms Davidson said: “We’re back. Back in the centre ground, with ideas to take our country forward.

“This election, we’re offering to do something else, to send the SNP a clear message – no to their unwanted plan to another referendum

“Enough, enough of the endless didvison. It’s time for them to get back to their day job and the country to get back together.

“We know Nicola Sturgeon doesn’t want to hear that.

“Lets bring the SNP down to size to make her listen so finally we get the security and stability we all deserve.

“We are unashamedly proud of our union, that will always be the case.”

The toughened leader also made a direct pitch to Labour voters north of the border – pledging to “do a job” for supporters as their party continues to be engulfed in “a state of civil war”.

She urged the electorate to back her party to help defeat the SNP across Scotland and destroy Nicola Sturgeon’s independence dream.

Today’s launch comes the day after the UK Tories unveiled their General Election prospectus, which included a commitment to deliver a “strong and stable Union, with no divisive Scottish referendum at this time”.

Appealing to Labour members and supporters, Ms Davidson said: “The truth is, your party has left you, not the other way around.

“And it may well find its way back. But you know – and I know – it won’t be at this election. So let me do a job for you.

“In great swathes of the country, it is only the Scottish Conservatives who are strong enough to take on the SNP. And in many places we can only win if you join with us.

“The Scottish Conservatives are rooted to the centre ground and – in the last year – have proven we can take on the SNP.”

Education is also expected to play a huge role in today’s launch, after Ms Davidson accused the SNP of ruining children’s futures with their divisive policies.

The Scottish Tories have already hailed the UK Conservative manifesto as a plan “that delivers for Scotland”.

The manifesto provides backing for Scotland’s vital energy sector – including plans to create a world-leading decommissioning industry in the North Sea and a commitment to remote island wind development.

Key announcements include a new Borderlands Growth deal to boost prosperity in the south of Scotland.

And, for Scotland’s capital city, the manifesto commits a future Conservative government to mark the 70th anniversary of the Edinburgh Festival by developing a new Edinburgh Concert Hall.

Secretary of state for Scotland David Mundell said: “From the Borders to the North Sea, this manifesto delivers for Scotland.

“It shows that a re-elected Conservative government will continue to ensure that Scotland benefits from its membership of the United Kingdom.

“The more Scottish Conservative MPs we elect on Thursday, the more MPs we will have at the heart of Westminster able to deliver even more for Scotland.
